Hello, my name is Denise Mears. I have been posing for the camera for a few years now, starting in my late 40’s.
I was hesitant at first, like most women my age. I let my insecurities get the best of me. Friends and family have always told be that I would look good in front of the camera, but I didn’t see what they saw when I looked in the mirror.
What really sparked my interest in modeling was a national photo contest for a major magazine. I had a few friends that were entering, so I thought “what the hell”, I may as well enter myself.
My boyfriend, at the time, was just getting into photography as a hobby, so we decided together to do a shoot and enter the photos into the contest. Needless to say, our very amateur photos did not make it into the magazine, but the fun we had and the overall popularity of the photos among friends and instagram followers let us know we were on the right track for our new hobby.
The more I pose, the more confident I become and the more I overcome those old insecurities. I find now that I really enjoyed myself and try to come up with unique photo shoot ideas.
